For participation in the preliminary round, candidates must submit a MiniDisc or CD recording on which they play the following works:
Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck – Echo Fantasy in a (ed. Seiffert 1943, nr. 16
or Leonhardt 1974, nr. 12) and Dietrich Buxtehude – Passacaglia in d
The jury will determine which nine candidates will be admitted to the competition.
The recordings will be judged anonymously. A competitor's placement in the pre-selection round will not have any bearing on the final result.The recordings and application forms must be received before 1 February 2012. The result of the pre-selection round will be announced on the website by 15 March 2012.
Program Competition 4-6 september 2012
Each of the nine competitors will play a concert,
lasting no longer than 40 minutes. The programme for the contest is free,
but it must include at least one piece by Sweelinck. The programme as a whole should present a varied and interesting choice of pieces from the repertoire written before 1700. In choosing the pieces the character and tuning (1/4-meantone) of the organ must be taken into account. Each day three of the competitors will give their recitals, at 18.00, 19.15 and 20.30 h. respectively.
The order of competitors will be determined by the drawing of lots.
