A native of Yorkshire, England, Max Kenworthy is a freelance organist, pianist, singer and choral conductor based in London. He began his musical career as a chorister at St. Paul’s Cathedral, London and later studied music at Brasenose College, Oxford, where he was also organ scholar. In 2002 Max was appointed Assistant Director of Music at Wellington Cathedral, a post he held for five years before going freelance. During this time he rekindled his interest in jazz by forming a jazz trio who specialized in jazz arrangements of the music of J.S. Bach. Max has made several recordings and has also worked as a concert reviewer and contributor for Radio New Zealand, most recently writing and presenting a programme on the organ works of Messiaen.

Nicholas Grigsby is a New Zealand based concert organist, harpsichordist, broadcaster and academic. He is currently completing a PhD thesis on the earliest aspects of the life of Johann Sebastian Bach, for which in 2008, he was awarded a Visiting Fellowship by Harvard University. During 2009, he will present recitals and lectures in the USA, Japan, Australia and New Zealand. For the past six years he has regularly presented a range of work on the National Radio network Concert programme in New Zealand. This year, projects have included profiles on composers Roxanna Panufnik and Thomas Adès, as well as an upcoming sequence of interviews with a range of contemporary New Zealand musical personalities. He and his wife Fenella manage a small farm i South Taranaki, on New Zealand’s North Island.

About the Four Hands/Four Feet Concert Tour
Max and Nicholas gave their first organ duet recital together at the Wellington Cathedral of St. Paul, New Zealand, in May 2004. Initially an experiment, the success of this recital led to numerous further performances and a greatly expanded repertoire encompassing the sphere of organ duets, including transcriptions and works specifically conceived for the idiom. They have toured extensively, and their 2008 international tour took them to New Zealand, Australia, Hong Kong, France, Germany and the UK
including concerts at Melbourne Town Hall, The Hong Kong Cultural Centre, Lincoln Cathedral
and Westminster Abbey.

Mark Lee was born in 1965 and educated at Cambridge University where he was Organ Scholar of Corpus Christi College. He graduated in music in 1987, also gaining his FRCO, winning the prestigious Coventry Cathedral Recital Award for ‘outstanding performance’.
After two years in the music department of Westminster School, Mark took up his appointment as Assistant Organist of Gloucester Cathedral in 1990. In addition to his regular work with the Cathedral Choir, Mark accompanied the choir twice to the USA, to Canada, Rome, and to Australia and New Zealand. He also performed at three Gloucester Three Choirs Festivals, including being organ soloist in Janacek’s Glagolitic Mass with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra.
In September 1998 Mark left Gloucester to become Director of Music of Bristol Cathedral. As well as tours of Bordeaux, Italy, and the USA, he was also Musical Director for the 1999 Royal Maundy Service. In Italy in 2001 the choir had the privilege of singing for the late Pope at the Vatican and have twice had the pleasure of singing with world-renowned soprano, Emma Kirkby. In October 2005 Head Chorister Sam Adams-Nye won the coveted title of BBC Radio 2 Choirboy of the Year, and the choristers recently completed a TV programme for Granada to be shown later this year.

Last year the Choir had the enormous pleasure of taking part in David Fanshawe’s African Sanctus with the Black Dyke Band at the Bridgewater Hall, Manchester.

A former pupil of Dr John Butt, the late Nicholas Danby, and Margaret Phillips, Mark has established an enviable reputation as a recitalist, performing at many English cathedrals, as well as Westminster Abbey (three times), King’s College, Cambridge, and St Paul’s. Summer 2004 saw the release of Mark’s first solo CD on the magnificent 1907 Walker organ at Bristol Cathedral, the programme including the Whitlock Sonata.
Mark has appeared three times as organist with the Black Dyke Band, including being privileged to perform with them last summer in the BBC Proms at the Royal Albert Hall.

OrganFocus search is based on "and" principle, meaning that all the keywords have to appear in the event.
Here are some suggestions for searching:
- use fewer keywords
- if searching for U.S. states, search for one state at a time
- make sure your keywords are spelled correctly
- do not search keywords such as pipe, organ, organs and their variations in different languages. All events here are organ-related.
- use the list of countries, U.S. states and organist names
- add upcoming concerts and events to the database
